January 2023: monthly review

We’re already at the end of January? Time flies…

This month I am trying something new. Instead of working on my projects late at night on an irregular schedule, I am using co-working spaces twice a week after my day job. (I’m actually posting this now from a workspace.) This will hopefully be a lot more productive overall. Other than that, I am still working through my current projects, particularly Whodini’s Escape Room Challenge

Twine 2 Sugarcube 2 Notepad++ UDL v1.01

September 2022: monthly review

Last month (September 2022)

Stories: Nothing to report.

Games: No progress last month due to travel and then laptop needing to be replaced, which is why this monthly review is so late. My new laptop has arrived. I have it set up and ready to go, and fortunately didn’t lose any data relating to my game development. Look out for new incremental builds on the Homotextual Gaming Guild Discord server.

Patreon: Patreon has released a new method of billing patrons called subscription billing. I’ve considered it but am not intending to switch to the new method. This is because I like the current system with a clear monthly cycle that starts and ends with each month. It also has a minor drawback where new patrons can’t sign up if billing has been paused for the month.

Next month (October 2022)

Stories: None planned right now.

Billing was paused last month and is currently paused again for this month, since my work flow was interrupted this month (due to travel + laptop replacement).

Paragon Pioneers Resources

So, I found a cool new mobile game called Paragon Pioneers. It’s a game by solo Berlin-based developer Tobias Tenbusch. It’s an idle city-building game with influences from the Anno series of games. You control an island of pioneers and build various buildings on a new island to produce resources and expand to other islands.

I helped to improve the translation of the game’s text and tutorial from German to English and have been busy creating useful gameplay resources for it. This post will make the resources I’ve made available beyond the Paragon Pioneers Discord community. Currently, there are three resources: the Production Predictor, the Production Ratios sheet, and the Building Patterns sheet.
